Simple Present
The present simple is used to describe things that happen regularly - routine. It is not used to describe something happening now.
The negative is formed using the auxiliary verb 'do'. I don't walk to work.
Meaning Do you walk or drive to work? I walk to work. How do you get to work? I walk. I live in London. I like chocolate. This form is also used for scientific things. The sun rises in the east. Water boils at 100 degrees centigrade. It is also used for diary entries. 3.00 pm see the doctor. 5.00pm go to dentist. NOTE: The 's' in walks & boils is not because it is a plural, it is because we use this form for verbs in the third person. |
